1.1. Slaves and how they were treated...
1.2. On the plantations/employed by a slaveholder: Most slaves were situated on large farms and there were usually 50 or less slaves on each. Slaveholders tended to give little independence to slaves and made sure there slaves are dipendent on them by limiting their education as well as their behaviour and movement. Many slaveholders took advantage of the slave woman and would sexually assult them, another cruel and common habbit of slaveholders is brutally and physically abusing those that didnt strictly follow their orders but reward those who are obedient towards rules given by the slaveholders regarding the plantation.
2. Abolishment of slavery

2.1.1. In Britain, the Act was abolished in 1833. The act was strongly influenced by William Wilberforce who was a British politician that started the act 20 years before.
2.1.2. Abolitionism definition: Abolitionism is a movement to end slavery.
2.1.3. However, slavery in the USA took a lot longer to be officially abolished until December 6th 1865 and racisim still carried on afterwards.
3. Slavery in America

3.2. Slavery first started to develop when the first slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco. Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African-American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation.

4.3. Triangular trade is the route in which slaves traveled when being traded/shipped to the New World as a part of the Atlantic slave trade.
5. Modern Slavery
5.1. What is a form of slavery?
5.2. forced to work - through mental or physical threat; owned or controlled by an 'employer', usually through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse; dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as 'property'; physically constrained or has restrictions placed on his/her freedom of movement.

5.4. What is slavery and what is a form of slavery?
5.4.1. According to the International Labour Organisation there are currently 21 million men, woman and children being affected by modern slavery.
5.4.1.1. An average slave in the American South in 1850 cost the equivalent of $40,000 in today’s money; today a slave costs an average of $90.
5.4.1.1.1. In 1850 it was difficult to capture a slave and then transport them to the US. Today, millions of economically and socially vulnerable people around the world are potential slaves. Since slaves are so cheap, slaves are today are not considered a major investment worth maintaining. If slaves get sick, are injured, outlive their usefulness, or become troublesome to the slave holder, they are dumped or killed. For most slave holders, actually legally ‘owning’ the slave is an inconvenience since they already obtain total control over the individuals labour and profits. Today the slave holder tend to care more about these high profits than whether the holder and slave are of different ethnic backgrounds; in Modern Slavery, profit trumps skin colour. Finally, modern slavery is directly connected to the global economy. As in the past, most slaves are forced to work in agriculture, mining, and prostitution. From these sectors, their exploited labour flows into the global economy, and into our lives.
