Identify changes in his/her body before, during and after moderate to vigorous exercise (e.g., perspiration, increased heart and breathing rates). af Mind Map: Identify changes in his/her body before, during and after moderate to vigorous exercise (e.g., perspiration, increased heart and breathing rates).

1. Objective 1: Students will be able to test things like their heart rate, pulse, and breathing

1.1. Some students might have difficulty finding their pulse in the beginning; I would use an example with myself, or another student to show them exactly where to find the pulse.

1.2. This portion of the lesson will have a I do It, You Do It.

1.3. I do it: I will find my pulse, time it, and record it. I will then run up and down for a minute or two, not too long to have the students waiting but long enough so I can get an effect. Then I will once again find my pulse, time it, and record it.

1.4. You Do It: The students will then all find their pulse, time it, and record. They will then take a turn to run or do an exercise for a couple minutes. They will then find their pulse again, time it, and record it.

2. Objective 2: They will know the basics of why these change and how these changes.

2.1. I will first have the students guess why their body changes due to exercise.

2.2. I will then go into a verbal explanation of why the pulse and breathing rate increase.

2.3. Some students will like to see how the body changes visually. Using an animation video to show them what happens with the blood stream in particular would be a good way to show why the pulse increases.

2.4. Another activity is to have the students work as a class. You have people act as blood vessels carrying oxygen, then others being the boundaries of the blood vessels, and some as the muscles who need the oxygen, and finally some be obstacles that want to stop the blood. The blood vessels carry balls and have to get them to the muscles.
