1. Population
1.1. Population Ecology
1.1.1. Population is a group of individuals of the same species living in an area
1.2. Population Density
1.2.1. Number of individuals per unit area
1.2.1.1. - At low population densities, individuals are spaced well apart
1.2.1.2. - At high population densities, individuals are crowded together
1.3. Population Distribution
1.3.1. Pattern of spacing among individuals within the boundaries of a population
1.3.1.1. Clumped - Individuals are clustered together into groups and this happens most in the nature
1.3.1.2. Uniform - Individuals are evenly spaced and usually results from competition among individuals for resources
1.3.1.3. Random - Position of each individual is independent of the others this usually occur when resources are spreaded away throughout the year
1.4. Population Size
1.4.1. Number of individuals in a population at any given time
1.5. Population Growth
1.5.1. 2 Types
1.5.1.1. 1.Exponnential - Unlimited Resources , Constant Birth Rate
1.5.1.2. 2.Logistic Growth - Limited resources , The population reach the carrying capacity
1.5.1.2.1. Carrying Capactiy
1.6. Rate of Population Change
1.6.1. - Depends on environmental factors and the characteristics of the organisms themselves namely
1.6.2. - The number of individuals born , die , move in/out each year
2. Demography
2.1. - The statistical study of a population
2.2. - Allows prediction to be made about how a population will change
3. Limiting Factors
3.1. Environmental conditions that prevent a population from growing larger
3.1.1. Types of limiting factors
3.1.1.1. Density-Dependent Factors
3.1.1.1.1. - Any factor in the environment that depends on the number of members in a population per unit area
3.1.1.1.2. - Occur when population reaches a certain size in a given area
3.1.1.1.3. - Usually Biotic Factors(Living things)
3.1.1.2. Density-Independent Factors
3.1.1.2.1. - Factors that limit population size, regardless of population density
3.1.1.2.2. - Affect all population regardless of their size
3.1.1.2.3. - Usually Abiotic Factors(Non-living things)
