1. IDEAS FOR SOLUTIONS

1.1. Systematic racism: Take aggressive action to address structures, policies, and practices that create that wealth gap.

1.2. Racism is taught by parents, social media, and within school. Teaching love and acceptance and to not stereotype could help reduce discrimination.

1.3. Within yourself you can listen and educate yourself, raise awareness, challenge everyday racism, and report discriminatory content.

2. PROBLEM:

2.1. One study found that resumes with traditional white sounding names received 50 % more callbacks than those with traditionally black names.

2.2. In 2018, in New York City 88% of police stops involved Black and Latinx people, 10% were involved with white people. 70% of those stops were completely innocent.

2.3. In 2018, black adults made up 12% of the population and they made up 33% of the adult population in prison and Hispanics that make up 16% of the population account 23% of prison inmates.

3. PEOPLE WORKING TO MAKE CHANGE

3.1. NAACP: The NAACP is group that is striving to advance racial equity. This group is working to make sure black voters have access to ballot boxes, access to clean water, and advancing true student debt relief.

3.2. Rachel Cargle: She is a writer that seeks to educate people on racial injustice, systemic racism, feminism, white supremacy, and countless other issues. She has an online platform that she uses to help people better educate themselves. "her insights into the nature of police violence and white supremacy have become indispensable for millions of people worldwide."

3.3. Charlene A. Carruthers: Formed the Black Youth Project 100, to inspire other black activists to emerge themselves. She has led many campaigns and is currently the executive director of Chicago Center for Leadership and Transformation. This organization focus is“to create a world free of capitalism, anti-Black racism, white supremacy, and patriarchy.”
