5.1. Race

5.1.1. "White men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don't you forget it, whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash."

5.1.1.1. Although Atticus was never racially abused, he knew that how MayComb treated coloured people was bad and it needed to stop. That is why he took on the case of tom Robinson because he knew that he never did it

5.2. His neighbourhood

5.2.1. "Mrs. Dubose won, all ninety eight pounds of her. According to her views, she died beholden to nothing and nobody. She was the bravest person I ever knew."

5.2.1.1. Atticus has to deal with his morphine-addicted neighbour, Mrs. Dubose. She targets his children and is rather nasty to them although Atticus lets it all slide.
