1. Resistant
1.1. teacher needs to earn their trust
1.2. Problems at home
1.3. may have concerns with peers they are working with
1.4. struggles to feel understood or safe
1.5. Does not understand something, so is hesitant.
1.5.1. Has not "warmed up" to a teacher or other students.
1.6. doesn't think the teacher cares
1.7. May not understand concept, afraid to expose their weakness
1.8. Insecure
2. Unmotivated
2.1. Struggles with depression
2.2. Doesn't know how to do something
2.3. Sad or anxious
2.4. Does not want to be embarassed.
2.5. May be hungry
2.6. Tired.
2.7. Does not see or understand the relevance of the lesson, class, etc.
2.8. Teacher doesn't show that they care
2.9. has "bigger" things to worry about
2.10. May not be interested b/c of too many other distractions.
2.11. insecure
3. Disrespectful
3.1. They are talked a certain way at home
3.2. Is used to being disrespected/put down by others, so they follow the example
3.2.1. Has not had respectful behavior modeled, including appropriate language, etc.
3.3. teacher has not earned their respect
3.4. worried about other things in life
3.5. Disregulated in other emotions that have nothing to do with us
3.5.1. Needs help to regulate emotions but doesn't know how to ask
3.6. Students talk loud
3.7. In protection mode/Defensive
4. Manipulative
4.1. control brings comfort
4.2. may have anxiety
4.3. Persistance brings desired outcome
4.4. The behavior is modeled at home, etc.
4.4.1. Needs something, but does not know how to ask, act, etc.
4.4.1.1. Feel powerless and does not know how to get something they need or want.
