1. Human Dignity

1.1. Meaning: Human dignity is the idea that people have worth because they are human.

1.1.1. Importance: Allows for fair prosecutions and reasonable consequences. Also makes the aspect of life in a country safer.

1.1.1.1. Example: The acknowledgement of human dignity allowed for basic human rights to be put in place in 1978.

2. Political Equality

2.1. Meaning: All citizens have the same rights regardless of their gender, race, sexuality, religion, e.c.t

2.2. Importance: Allows for all types of citizens to have a spot in the government, and creates a safe environment.

2.3. Example: In the federal elections in 2019 took place, all politicians were treated the same (regarding their rights. )

3. Personal Freedom

3.1. Meaning: The freedom of a person to be treated equally in the eyes of the law, the freedom to express themselves, and to own assets.

3.2. Importance: People can express themselves and create original ideas which create a more evolved government. It also allows for higher productivity rates. Owning assets is necessary to fuel the economy

3.3. Example: Personal freedom can be displayed in protests. People are able to express when they think rights are being violated due to a democratic government. When George floyd got killed by police due to the color of his skin, the people fought back. (Mostly peacefully.

4. Respect

4.1. Meaning: Considering someone or something deserving of high regard

4.1.1. Importance: Allows all voting citizens to be regarded as important, thus creating a broader spectrum of view points. Having a wider spectrum of viewpoints creates a more equal government. Also creates a universal appreciation for authority

4.1.1.1. Example: When going to a prosecution, all people in question Respect the judge. Like when the committee respecting each other points in the passing of a security act in 2011.

5. Rule of Law

5.1. Meaning: No one is above the law and all are equal before the law.

5.1.1. Importance: Assures all Canadians receive a fair trial and government accountability, and allows for no bias to take place.

5.1.1.1. Example: Former Mayor Joe Fontana was charged and convicted of fraud because he misused public funds. The same would be applied to a normal citizen.

6. Being informed

6.1. Meaning: Possessing knowledge that is relevant to a situation.

6.2. Importance: Allows citizens to make educated decisions when voting. Ignorance toward the law doesn’t allow someone to be deemed not guilty, so being informed of the laws creates a fair trial.

6.3. Example: When citizens were voting in the 2019 election, citizens were informed of Justin Trudeau promises and personality through the media and campaigns. Like he advocates for feminism.
