Types of clauses

1. Relative Clause

1.1. Or adjective; the patterns look like these: Relative pronoun or adverb + subject + verb = Incomplete thought Relative pronoun as subject + verb = Incomplete thought

1.2. Used to highlight people, animals, or things in a sentence. We also use it to join two sentences.

2. Noun Clause

2.1. Any clause that functions as a noun becomes a Noun clause.

2.2. Are used to name something when a single word isn't enough.

3. Main Clause

3.1. Or independent clause; will follow this pattern: Subject + Verb = Complete thought

3.2. Are used main clauses when we want to identify a complete thought.

4. Subordinate Clause

4.1. Or dependent clause; will follow this pattern: Subordinate conjunction + subject + verb = Incomplete thought

4.2. Are used to describe nouns and pronouns; verbs, adverbs, and adjectives; or at act as the subject or object of another clause.
