The genre swap task forced me to look in to the specific genre conventions in certain genres, the fact that we had to convert genres emphasised the differences between the videos within that genre. This understanding of genre conventions would help me understand the need to look in to the genre our un signed artist follows and we now understand the importance of following those specific conventions.

9. Reading Richard Dyer's theory taught us the fundamentals of pop artist marketing and how they gather such a large fan base, it also illustrated the reasons why some artists fail in the industry. This knowledge will help us market our artists image in our main video as well as have awareness to whether keeping that image would hinder or improve his popularity as an artist.

11.1. The moving toy task was our first actual preliminary task, this was useful in some ways as it taught us the ways to go about making a music video. Teaching us that making music videos varies to making film scenes. The cutting rate varies and the sequence is random, two key things which I needed to take in to consideration. This will help me with my main task because now I will understand how I would need to edit and shoot the video making it look like a successful music video rather than an amateur made copy.
