1. Universities tend to be larger than Colleges. They might have larger class sizes. Which means they can offer two and four year degrees as well as graduate degrees beyond four years in advanced studies.
2. Career schools offer courses that are designed to prepare students for specific careers. Trade schools focus on hands-on application of skill needed to do the job. Technical schools however, teach the science behind the occupation.
3. Many private schools are considerably more expensive than state institutions, they also tend to offer more generous financial aid packages. Many students have found the actual out-of-pocket cost to attend a private college to be less than the cost of the state schools to which they were accepted. Don't rule private school out only because of the cost!
4. Junior and community colleges can offer 2-year associate degree programs. Except that a junior college is usually a private school.
5. Community colleges are affordable and prepare students to join the work force as soon as possible following graduation.
