Plate Tectonics Proof

1. Fossil Proof (Coasts)

1.1. Fossils of extinct animals that couldn't swim found on different continents separated by water.

1.2. Extinct fern found on Antarctica, Australia, South America, etc.

1.3. Mesosaurus found on South America + Africa, showing more evidence of theory.

2. Rock Proof (Coasts)

2.1. Older rocks further away due to divergent boundary.

2.2. Same rock types of same ages found on continent coasts separated by water, and also had coastal matching of them.

3. Continent Shapes

3.1. Look like they all fit together, 'like a puzzle'.

3.2. West Coast of Africa looks like it matches the East coast of South America, showing they could be together at one point.

4. Magnetic History / Age of sea floor

4.1. Magnetic fields 'flips' back and forth. With it creating new sea floor for land to be 'pushed' out, thus supporting theory.

4.2. Magnetic 'flips' happen every hundred thousand years + or so.

5. Location of volcanoes + earthquakes

5.1. They result from movement of plates, which show more proof about theory.

5.2. They all occur at plate boundaries! Which show how they work more.
