1. Interim/Benchmark

1.1. An interim/benchmark is normally taken at the end of a semester or beginning/end of the year to see what the students know and how they have grown.

1.2. An example could be MAP testing and STAAR benchmarking.

2. Performance

2.1. Performance is how the students do on the types of assessments and their attitudes about them.

2.2. Such as some students might perform better one on one and then some might do better as whole group.

3. Diagnostics

3.1. This normally occurs before a unit or concept.

3.2. Examples are a pre test or asking a few questions before beginning the new unit.

5. Formative

5.1. The goal of formative assessments is to monitor the students learning and to take that information to retouch on what students may or may not grasp.

5.2. Examples would be exit tickets and and passing out a quick paper for them to complete in class.

6. Summative

6.1. Teachers use summative assessments at the end of learning a unit or at the end of a six weeks to see what the students learned.

6.2. Some examples would be end of six weeks test or end of unit tests.

7. HOT Question

7.1. Opening Questions: What is a fraction? What does the numerator and denominator represent?

7.2. Guiding questions: Why do you think those to fractions are/are not equivalent? What is a strategy you can use to help you decide if two fractions are equivalent?

7.3. Closing questions: What is one thing you can take away from today? How can you explain it to someone who doesn't know anything about fractions?
