Classroom Management by Mind Map: Classroom Management

1. Give students a few chances when they're misbehaving because it could be due to a personal issue.

2. Create a positive and comfortable environment so that students will be more invested in learning.

3. Praise students who do well and do it often.

4. Have confidence in all of your students, and be positive from the start.

5. Give students choices so that they feel like the learning is more student-centred. If they take advantage of the privilege, give them a warning saying their privilege can be taken away.

6. Allow students to have a voice when it comes to the classroom (rules, floorplan). If students take advantage of their voice, use a yellow card to give them a warning.

7. Treat students with respect so that it is more likely to be reciprocated.

8. Be firm but not overly strict. Set expectations but be responsive, we all know life happens. Some students may need to be reminded of the rules when they're having a bad day.

9. Be prepared by having a back up plan in case your first plan falls through. This will keep students engaged.

10. Remind your students about your classroom management goals when necessary. Students who don't respect your goals may have privileges taken away so that they learn to value respect.
