1. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The reason for the Second Amendment was to have the militia ready to fight in the American Revolution. The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution
2. Ownership
2.1. Non-citizens cannot own a gun. Federal Law requires someone to be 21 to buy a gun, but in some places you can be 18.
2.2. In mostly rural places, children 14-16 and older can buy a rifle (for hunting).
2.3. In Maine, there's a partial ban on people carrying guns into restaurants.
