Radios, the most fundamental of all, are used in different departments to communicate throughout the hospital also. Communication is dependent on what job title you posses in this industry. For example, mechanics carry radios, and nurses carry Cisco phones.

Healthcare systems normally go by a badging system to gain access to restricted areas. For equipment there is a system that documents the use of equipment to prevent possible scheduling conflicts, wear and tare on the equipment, possible theft or violations, and better efficiency in use. In software, there are systems that give access to patient information/documents by using log ins w/personal credentials that will give you access and prevent violations. For example, we use EPIC for patients information and ReportExec for facility incidents.
