1. Alliances

1.1. India and Indonesia two countries independences gave Africa inspiration

1.2. US told the colonial powers to squeeze their colonies to help rebuild after WWII

1.3. Great Britain power gave its colonies independence between 1960-1963

2. Divisions

2.1. Rhodes argued that the entire territory had become his personal fiefdom, and gave his name to the territory: Rhodesia.

2.2. British attacked, the Ndebele surrendered, and the British imposed Africans from a different territory to police the Ndebele.

2.3. African individuals and groups who resisted European colonial authority were aware of the challenges they faced.

3. Culture and Religion

3.1. In 1929 Igbo women felt that their autonomy was threatened by an impending tax imposed by the local colonial administration

3.2. Women's Revolt was an effort on the part of Igbo women to protect their economic and political interests

3.3. Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba goal was to protect Islam from the corruptive forces of European rule
