DRAWBACKS OF USING ICT IN LANGUAGE TEACHING

1. Financial issues
1.1. Some schools and students cannot afford to buy cutting-edge tools or updating software costs much
1.2. Electrical devices always cost a lot of money
2. Leaked private information
2.1. Criminals, marketers, hackers can easily get information from students when they are online
3. Technical problems
3.1. Troublesome to set up
3.2. Teachers lack of experience using ICT tools
3.3. Losing files/outdated software/hardware)
4. Lack of face to face communication
4.1. Using ICT in class reduces teachers' talking time and students' talking time
5. Students become LAZY and DEPENDENT on technology
5.1. They use automatic spelling/grammar checking => auto correct => Ss’writing problems (while writing can help our brain function more active)
6. Cheating/Plagiarism
6.1. Students download information from the Net and turning them in for grades.
7. Less physical activities
7.1. Using ICT in class to play games make Ss not involve in outdoor activities or classroom activities
8. Time-consuming for preparation
8.1. It takes a lot of preparation time to effectively use the Net for education. Ex: making ppt games, editing videos,…
