Quality of Democracy by Mind Map: Quality of Democracy

1. Control: The control of a Democracy compared to a"corrupted" Dictatorship are very different. In the movie everyone that is against the Chancellor's leadership will be executed or sent to jail if anyone found out. In a Democracy, anyone is allowed to freely vote.

2. Individual Liberties

2.1. Individual Liberties: I strongly feel that. The people never necessarily had individual rights from anything. It's only members of the government or supporters that got certain "rights" or "perks" from the law. anyone bellow that status had it worst.

3. Rule Of Law

3.1. The Chancellor ran the country based on his personal beliefs which is something similar to what Adolf Hitler did. He did not control the government in an appropriate manner, he always wanted to kill, accuse, and destroy people that blocked his path.

4. Competition

4.1. Competition: Based on the movie, one of the Chancellors apostles was secretly trying to get rid of him. There wasn't much competition against the Chancellor because he could easily tarnish or execute those who were against him.

4.2. Competition: In a Democracy competition is one through the people and their votes. In this film

5. Mutual Constraints

5.1. The Government was very much against V so they did everything to make him look as evil as possible. For example, the Government created virus was given to people, eventually they used this incident to convince residents that he is the antagonist and manipulate public opinion

6. Government Capability

6.1. Government Capability: The Governments Capability was very expanded meaning they can do anything they could have possibly wanted and get away with it without anyone having suspicions about it. The Government has everything at it's finger tips, so it can manipulate anything including the freedom of others

7. Public Sphere

7.1. Public Sphere: Based on the type of government in the film. Having a public sphere can very much result in people being tortured or hurt if they do not agree with certain term that the government has made. In this case people were given a virus just because they were "criminals".

8. Freedom

8.1. Freedom: Citizens never had much freedom. And what I mean by that is, no one was allowed to speak up against the Chancellor because they would be considered a criminal for being against him. He did everything within his power to destroy and accused those against him using "propaganda".

8.2. New Topic

9. Control

10. Equality

10.1. Equality: There is not a lot of equality in this form of Britain due to them having a Chancellor that rules and controls the country based on his personal opinions.

11. Transparency

11.1. Transparency: The people of Britain are not aware of what the Government is really doing to their people. The government decides to hide the "bad" side of the people who are in charge.

12. Participation

12.1. Participation: There can't be much participation by the people because sometimes theirs votes and disagreements are very much ignored by the government.

13. Representation

13.1. Representation: The governments representation of things are very different and more biased than it truly seems. For example, The government accused V for the large virus that spread when it was the government itself that was responsible for the death of 80,000 people.
