1. Minimum Value- The y value of the vertex when a parabola opens upward. Example:f(x)= 4x-2x+1 Minumum value:(1,-1)
2. Maximum Value-The y value of the vertex when the parabola opens downward.
3. Parabola- is a two-dimensional, mirror-symmetrical curve, which is approximately U-shaped.
4. Vertex of the Parabola-If a parabola opens upward, it has a lowest point. If a parabola opens downward, it has a highest point It is both.
5. Y-Axis-the secondary or vertical axis of a system of coordinates, points along which have a value of zero for all other coordinates.
6. Axis of Symmetry- Is the line through the vertex of a parabola into two congruent halves. Example:f(x)=x-2(-2)-3 because h=-2, the axis of symmetry is the vertical line x=-2.
7. Standard form -Is a way of writing down very large or very small numbers easily. Example: So 4000 can be written as 4 × 10³.
8. Vertex form-of a quadratic function is f(x) = a(x – h)2 + k, where a, h, and k are constants.-
9. Quadratic function-a quadratic polynomial, a polynomial of degree 2, or simply a quadratic.
10. X-Axis-the principal or horizontal axis of a system of coordinates, points along which have a value of zero for all other coordinates.
