1.1. Great Depression

1.1.1. The new deals were created to fix the jobs issue but when they did this it increased government debt.

1.1.1.1. During thee FDR Trials we learned different peoples views on what FDR did to help ( or hurt ) the nation.

1.1.1.1.1. The causes of the great depression was because hoover told people to invest in the stock market and people were taking loans out to invest and people couldnt afford the loans so they would walk away from them. after that the bank lost a lot of money and caused people to loose a lot of money.

2. ***Civil Rights*** To what extent have the oppressed in America been able to attain an equality of life

2.1. Civil Rights

2.1.1. the black community worked very hard to get equality and they were successful for the most part, there was still racism, but they had equal rights.

3. ***Migration*** What causes migration and how has it impacted America?

4. ***Leaders & Presidents*** What makes an effective or ineffective leader?

4.1. Marshall Plan

4.1.1. The Marshall plan is a good example on how the President can effect America, Truman spent a lot of money to help foreign country's that were falling to communism

4.2. Vietnam

4.2.1. President Nixon was trying to get america out of the war in Vietnam as best as he could, His idea was to use Vietnamization (Tried to take american troops out and put in South Vietnam Troops). His plan wasn't a successful because there was still 284,000 Troops in Vietnam. While doing this he also increased the amount of bombings in Vietnam which some people thought was bad because they thought it was just advancing the war, This caused more protests etc.

5. ***Government*** What is the role and responsibility of the American government

5.1. 1920's

5.1.1. The government played a huge role in the 1920's, for example when they banned alcohol, they were looking out for faimilys, but it just caused even more problems.

5.2. The Great Society

5.2.1. When the government creates large social programs + Cuts tax, government debt will increase

5.3.1. When the Government makes the wrong decisions it scares the people of America

5.4. Vietnam

5.4.1. The Government sent Troops into Vietnam to stop the spread of communism. The problem with this is that the troops forgot what they were fighting for because there wasn't really a objective. One example of why they thought this war was pointless was The battle for Hamburger Hill. It took them 10 days to capture the hill and a lot of people were injured/killed and then they were told to leave the mountain just 16 days after they captured it. Since troops were getting depressed and wanted to leave, the government would through parties to get there minds off the war which they shouldn't have been doing. A lesson we learned is that fighting wars that were pointless to the troops wont end well.

6.1. 1920's

6.1.1. Things like radios, silent movies, and cars helped shape new inventions like normal movies, new cars, advanced radios etc.

7. ***Media*** To what extent does the media influence people? To what extent does the media mirror or reflect society?

7.1. 1920's

7.1.1. Media influenced fashion a lot, and it still does. People see trends of fashion online and then they use the fashion.

7.2. ***Foreign Relationships*** How have foreign entanglements influence america?

7.2.1. World War 1

7.2.1.1. Forming allies can draw the country into a broader conflict

7.2.1.1.1. When the US is involved in world affairs to a large extent, it is hard to be neutral if a major conflict break out.

7.2.2. Korean War

7.2.2.1. The Korean war is an example of how foreign relation ships can effect America, To stop the spread of Communism into South Korea Truman sent troops over to Korea to help South Korea beat North Korea

7.2.3.1. Containing an idea is very challenging and

7.3.1. The media played a huge role into the Vietnam war because things like newspapers spread how bad the Vietnam war really was. Because of the media there was a lot of protests to end the war. A lesson we learned was that the media has a very powerful influence on the public.
