2.2. MLK and Malcolm X: Many times civil rights leaders get assassinated because they are seen as a threat/ just because you kill the person doesn't mean you kill the idea

3. Government What is the role and responsibility of the American government

3.1. When the government tries to make popular drugs illegal they lose control of the trade and gangs and violence will follow.

3.2. GREAT SOCIETY: Lesson learned: When the government creates large welfare programs and decreases taxes the government debt will increase

4. Migration What causes migration and how has it impacted america

4.1. when African Americans moved to northern cities they were able to create their own culture and express it

5. Media To what extent does the media influence people? To what extent does the media mirror or reflect society

5.1. Civil RIghts: Black people got beat up on purpose to gain public opinion/ if u go viral on social media then u will get a lot of attention

6. Civil Rights To what extent have the oppressed in America been able to attain an equality of life

6.1. Holocaust: When America does not respond to a violation of human rights, that violation will grow worse.

6.2. Civil Rights: Non violence was fueling the movement and got the most attention/sympathy for the cause

6.3. Black Panthers: They followed police with guns/ aggressive tactics against the government can fail if your an inferior force

6.4. VIETNAM: The army didn't treat their soldiers well. They tried to fix low moral by giving them drugs and alcohol. They also used chemical warfare that gave many soldiers cancer after the war. They also had no idea why they were fighting. The lesson that can be learned is to take better care of your soldiers so that they perform better in the field, and wont have incidents like the My Lai Masacre.

7.1. When there are new advances in technology there will be effects in warfare

8. Foreign Relations How have foreign entanglements influence America?

8.1. Forming Allies can draw the country into a boarder conflict. WW1

8.2. When the US is involved in world affairs to a large extent, it is hard to be neutral if a major conflict breaks out. WW1

8.5. early years of cold war: NATO warsaw pact/ a large group makes your country strong

8.6. MAIN when you have these elements present in the world it can easily lead to a world war

8.7. Cuban Missile Crisis: The US needs to compromise on foreign affairs to get results

8.8. VIETNAM: The US tried to impose their values and beliefs on Vietnam during the war. They wanted to show them that Capitalism is the way to go, and they did this by use of military force. The lesson to be learned from this is not to impose our values and beliefs on others, so we can prevent wars like the Vietnam war and the Korean War.

8.9. VIETNAM: The US was not mindful when they started attacking in Vietnam. The US did not have an exit strategy when fighting this war, and that is why it lasted so long. The lesson to be learned is to be more careful when involving military action in another country. This will prevent long waging wars like the one in Afghanistan today.
