1.1. Since Hitler was in power and kept pushing limits with persecution and no one stopped him he was able to continue what he was doing and kill that many people.

2. ***Government:*** What is the role and responsibility of the American government?

2.1.1. Changing laws that have been in effect for many years is not that easy because the public will almost always disagree.

2.1.2. Banning legal drugs that many people use is often times very ineffective and expensive.

2.2. Casues of Great Depression

2.2.1. 65% of people made income lower then $2,000

2.2.2. Banks failed and people lost their money

2.2.3. Bubble formed in stocks

2.2.4. Farmers were effected

2.2.5. People bought stocks"on margin"(loan)

2.2.6. Debt increased too much in the 1920s

2.3. Causes of World War II

2.3.1. Totalitarianism: when one leader has too much power, they can do whatever they want if they re not challenged.

2.4. LBJ's Great Society

2.4.1. When the government decreases taxes and creates large social programs, debt will increase.

2.5. Decision Making in Vietnam War

2.5.1. Throughout the Vietnam Era many people questioned the government on its choices it. Without a clear cut motive there was a poor attitude seen in many of the soldiers. Alongside this our leaders said the war would quickly end by 1967 which turned out to be wrong. With Nixon deciding to attack enemy communist bases in Cambodia it went against their vision of how to contain communism which was to put in little war effort so it made the tactic a fail. With this we can learn to improve our tactics and have clear motives of why America enters wars.

3.1. Great Depression

3.1.1. When the New Deal was created to fix the economic problems, it cost a lot of money and government debt increased.

3.2.1. opened up job opportunities with the creation of multiple organizations

3.3. Mass Consumption

3.3.1. When getting credit it led to more debt for Americans which later impacted the Great Depression

4. ***Migration*** What causes migration and how has it impacted America?

4.1. Holocaust

4.1.1. America didn't know the extent of the Holocaust and refused many jews entrance to the country and Hitler was able to keep and kill.

5. ***Leaders & Presidents*** What makes an effective or ineffective leader?

5.1. Woodrow Wilson

5.2. Hoover v FDR

5.2.1. FDR was seen as the superior candidate for the job with his good looks and were looking for someone new that could turn the country around

5.3. WWII

5.3.1. Leaders like Hitler who are willing to fight until the end can be challenging to defeat.

5.4. Assassinations

5.4.1. When major leaders get killed, their ideas only get bigger

5.5. JFK

5.5.1. Need compromise on issues. Remain calm and think things through.

5.6. Richard Nixon

5.6.1. Richard Nixon faced a difficult situation in the Vietnam War. He made the decision to carry out Vietnamization which is the pulling of American troops and putting in South Vietnamese troops. But many people questioned his decision making and a huge outcry resulted and ultimately led to Nixon resigning. We can learn from this that every move made by a president should be looked at and really considered if it was the right decision. From this we can also learn that at many times presidents are thrown into situations where the outcome isn't going to look so pretty no matter what decision is made.

6. African Americans WW1/1920's

6.1. During times of war civil rights will improve because the minorities will have more opportunities

7. ***Media*** To what extent does the media influence people?

7.1. Communication

7.1.1. The ability to know what is going on in other parts of world and not having to leave your house.

7.2. WWII American on the Homefront

7.2.1. the media,when necessary, can be manipulated to serve the greater good by influencing people to aid in war efforts

7.3.1. Emmett Tills open casket put in a perspective of the ways blacks were treated

7.4. Video during the Vietnam War

7.4.1. With the rapid growth of technology, cameras were sent out to record the Vietnam War making it one of the first of their time. The videos captured brutal and disturbing outcomes of the war. Many people used this to speak out against the war. For today video evidence plays a key role in many situations and brings light to many topics and it carries a whole to view of what is really going on.

8. ***Civil Rights:*** To what extent have the oppressed in America been able to attain an equality of life?

8.1. Womens Progress 1920s

8.1.1. Women staarted to challenge the standards and with that they got more freedoms.

8.2. WWII America on the Homefront

8.2.1. Disenfranchised groups are needed and want to continue being needed in times when there is a connecting issue.

8.3. Civil Rights Movement

8.3.1. When a radical idea os introduced to a group of individuals that have been the same for many years, they will be reluctant to change.

8.4. Black Panthers

8.4.1. If a movement is not progressing, it night move to more aggressive attacks. Groups take major hits when they come across a larger force, in this case police.

8.5. Soldiers in Vietnam

8.5.1. America viewed the war as a loss for them as Northern Vietnamese troops took over South Vietnam. The American soldiers believed that didn't get the outcome the were hoping to get but as time moves on the soldiers appreciate the hard work and effort they put in. From this we can learn that American troops need to be thanked for their war efforts and have them treated with great repsect as they sacrificed their life for our country.

9.1. Radio/New Technology

9.1.1. When you have new technology it connects us all more effectively

9.2.1. Due to all technological advancements prior to WW1, it changes the way war is fought and the world was not ready for it.

9.3. WWII End of War

9.3.1. New powerful weapons can quickly end war when one side has them.

9.4. NATO

9.5.1. Seeing candidates appearance changes the outcome of elections

9.6. Usage of Expolsives during the Vietnam War

9.6.1. Naval Vessels were launched by the North Vietnamese in international waters which goes against the United Nations. While this happened early on, to close out the war President Richard Nixon used a method called Rolling Thunder which was as series of bombing raids as troops were getting pulled out during Vietnamization. We learned that large explosives continue to be a big threat to others and can impact the outcome.

10. ***Foreign Relations*** How have foreign entanglements influence America?

10.1. World War I

10.1.1. When the US is involved in world affairs to a large consent, it is hard to stay neutral if a major conflict breaks out.

10.1.2. Forming allies can draw the country into a broader topic.

10.2. Causes of WWII

10.2.1. Treaty of Versailles-when there are attempts at blowing one country, conflict will result
