2.1. All academic studio design projects are subject to forces generated by people and critical apparatus that pull the project and its envisaged destination in different directions. One of the most important aspects as teachers and designers is to comprehend and understand these forces, and to shape their influence on the design process and its intended products in order to achieve educational and productive outcomes that are in relation to the project’s goals.

4. History

4.1. Transport is essential for all forms of movement, be that of people, goods or information. However, all too often studies of human mobility and migration pay little heed to the mode of transport used or to the implications of a transport mode for the experience of movement. Studying migration and mobility with little consideration of precisely how people moved omits a major part of the experience; and studying transport history without considering exactly why travellers choose a particular mode, and the impact that a journey might have had on future travel, likewise provides only a partial picture of travel and transport. While the connections between migration, mobility and transport are quite obvious, it is the case that they are only rarely explored in depth by scholars of migration and transport history.

5.1. Technical transportation and telecommunications systems are generating increasing numbers and forms of speed potentials. These systems, extensively used, have produced a new compression of time and space that has manifested itself in the robust growth of flux. Beyond the observation of this fact are the changes that are at the heart of a scientific debate about the impact of speed potentials on territory and on social structures. At the individual level, it can be defined as the way in which an actor appropriates the field of possible action in the area of mobility, and uses it to develop personal projects.
