4. Preparations for Quest #4

4.1. Quests #2 and #3 focus on characters and settings in an isolated way. This will built the foundation for Quest #4, in which students must consider the perspectives of specific characters and think about how they might interact with each other or those outside of the story.

5. Preparations for The Final Boss Fight (Quest #5)

5.1. All of the quests thus far have helped students prepare for the final task of this unit. Considering character motivations, their physical setting within the story, and the ways in which they interact with each other will help students consider their own ideas in creating an escape from reality. Quest #1, the running journal, should be most helpful here. Have students make reference to the things they have noted throughout their reading and incorporate those things into their final piece. It should also be noted that students should have a good understanding of classroom expectations and the quality of work expected prior to beginning this unit, and these expectations should be revisited throughout the unit and before Quest #5.

8. Preparations for Quest #2:

8.1. Quest #1 will get students thinking about the elements of the novel that they like and dislike, it will also allow them to reflect on the motivations and realities of the characters in the novel in preparation for Quest #2.

9. Preparations for Quest #3

9.1. Quest #2 will focus on having students understand the motivations of a specific character or characters in Bridge to Terabithia. This will help students in understanding how to create a meaningful setting in Quest #3, which should attend to the perspective of the characters in the novel. Sharing of trading cards in Quest #2 will also ensure that students have the background information necessary to "Set the Scene" of a character that they did not explore themselves in Quest #2.
