4. iOS5

4.1. iPad2

4.1.1. Pros:

4.1.1.1. ‘iOS 5 looks good and features some smart consolidating on the UI front,’ says Bamforth.

4.1.1.2. The additions of a new notifications system, Newsstand and Twitter integration will also be ‘very welcome’ amongst iDevice users as well.

4.1.2. Cons:

4.1.2.1. Couple this with the value added benefits that iCloud synchronisation will bring and you’re looking at one hell of a platform update – even by today’s standards.

4.1.2.2. But what did the analysts think of iOS 5 and iCloud? We had a conversation with Quocirca Principle analyst Rob Bamforth to get the inside scoop.

5.1. iOS/ iPhone

5.1.1. Pros:

5.1.1.1. When you upgrade from an old iPhone to a new one, that old iPhone becomes, in essence, an iPod touch.

5.1.1.2. ou can unlock your iOS device simply by visiting jailbreakme.com with your Web browser and sliding a switch that jailbreaks the device and installs a copy of Cydia.

5.1.2. Cons:

5.1.2.1. When you jailbreak your device and enable SSH, its more accessible from the outside than it once was.

5.1.2.2. Say what you will about the sometimes-quirky nature of the App Store’s approval process, at least apps have been vetted—hopefully to the point where they shouldn’t take down the entire device when they crash.

5.2. Windows 7 Mobile

5.2.1. Pros:

5.2.1.1. Windows Mobile 7 has practically placed Microsoft back in the mobile business game

5.2.1.2. The earlier versions of WinMo are simply ports of the PC experience which is good in someway but users tend to look for more than just a Pocket PC from their phones.

5.2.2. Cons:

5.2.2.1. such a powerful device and its hardware requirements is way above average but it can’t do music and send text messages at the same time.

5.2.2.2. Earlier iterations of the operating system could do multitasking and they don’t cause a lot of problems.

5.3. Android

5.3.1. Pros:

5.3.1.1. As the new platform, the Droid is a great OS, and open source, suit for the LG Thrive.

5.3.1.2. The LG Thrive supported with AT&T’s service for porting my old number and filling the phone has been excellent.

5.3.2. Cons:

5.3.2.1. The LG Thrive equipped with Micro USB connector is nonstandard so you may need new chargers.

5.3.2.2. Since the LG Thrive runs Android 2.2.1 so it’s very responsive even with a 600 MHz processor.
