Lennie - Powerlessness Shy, not smart, childish

1. "It jus' seems kinda funny a cuckoo like him and a smart guy little guy like you travelin' together. He ain't no cuckoo, said George. He's dumb as hell, but he ain't crazy" (Steinbeck 19).

2. "Make 'um let me alone, George. He backed until he was against the wall, and Curley followed, slugging him in the face. Lennie's hands remained at his sides; he was too frightened to defend himself " (Steinbeck 30).

3. "I was just supposin', he said. George ain't hurt. He's all right. He'll be back all right. Lennie stood over him. What you supposin' for? Ain't nobody goin' to suppose no hurt to George" (Steinbeck 34-35).

4. "George? What you want? I can still tend the rabbits, George? Sure. You ain't done nothing wrong. I di'n't mean no harm, George" (Steinbeck 31)
