COMPARATIVE by Mind Map: COMPARATIVE

1. Two-syllable adjectives. With most of two - syllables or more adjectives that do not end in Y,you form the comparative with the use of the word MORE. Example: Peaceful - More peaceful.

2. If the two-syllable adjectives ends with -y, change they to i and add -er for the comparative form.Example: Happy - Happier.

3. If there is only one syllable,with more than one vowel or more than one consonant at the end you add -er. Example: Fast - Faster.

4. Exceptions. Irregular adjectives. Good-Better Little-Less Far-Farther Bad-Worse

9. If the one-syllable adjective ends with a single consonant with a vowel before it,double the consonant and add-er for the comparative form. However,do not double the consonant in words ending in -W-X or -Y.
