Avery Higgins by Mind Map: Avery Higgins

1. Childhood

1.1. Very untraditional upbringing

1.1.1. I am an only child so that meant I was spoiled by my parents

1.1.1.1. I grew up with 3 horses, 3 dogs, and 5 cats; it was a zoo. I was lucky enough to get every little girl's dream of having not 1 pony but 3.

1.2. I was oblivious to a lot during my childhood (I still am if I'm being honest)

1.2.1. My parents made sure I was sheltered from any hardships we faced as well as the hardships experienced by others

1.2.1.1. I am grateful for their protection but I also wish I was exposed to more real life situations, so I would know how to handle myself as an adult

2. Personal Interests

2.1. Musical Theatre

2.1.1. I started musical theatre in high school and fell in love with it instantly

2.1.1.1. I have done over 15 shows in the last 4 years and can't wait to do more

2.1.1.1.1. My personal favorite roles have been Viola in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Tracy in Hairspray

2.2. Horseback riding

2.2.1. I have been riding horses for 18 years and now train beginning to intermediate riders when I come home on breaks.

2.3. I have won many different competitions over the years and recently received Grand Champion for my division

2.4. Choir

2.4.1. I love performing classical music just as much as I love musical theatre. There is something so beautiful about performing something that can so easily touch someone's heart.

2.4.1.1. Back in high school, I had the luxury of performing a solo at our States performance where we earned Superiors with Distinction; this was the highest score and was only awarded to under 20 schools in the state of Florida.

2.4.1.1.1. Attached is one of the three pieces we performed with my solo in it: Whitman

3. Future Aspirations

3.1. I am looking forward to graduating from the University of Central Florida with my B.A. in Theatre Studies and Education

3.2. My main goal is to start my career as an actor in a Broadway musical. I am getting my degree in theatre studies so that I can hone my skills and be ready for New York City.

3.3. If Broadway does not work out then I want to be a teacher. I choose to ignore the saying of "those who can't, teach." I personally have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl, so being able to be a teacher is not a second choice; it is an alternative choice that I would happily take. I want to teach theatre to students and spark a love for the arts in their hearts.
