STARTING A TRUCKING COMPANY

1. Get Commerical Driver's License (CDL)

1.1. Find training programs to get a CDL, this is mainly for the drivers.

2. Know start-up Expenses

2.1. Will need to know the amount of money needed for the trucks, financing, licensing and registration.

3. Business Operations

3.1. Know how to deal with parking, maintenance, invoicing, position roles. payroll, paperwork and etc.

4. Compliance

4.1. Acquire your Authority, Motor carrier number, DOT number and Fuel agreements.

5. Insurance

5.1. Will need to acquire primarily liability, cargo , physical damage and bobtail insurance.

6. Trailer/Truck

6.1. Get a operation lease for a trailer or have an owner operator.

7. Grow Business

7.1. Register on Load Boards for business, acquire a DAT fuel card and Mobile App for tracking purposes.

8. Establish LLC

8.1. Make sure you know what type of business you would like to establish.
