1. With the fall of the Napoleonic Empire, England had no close competitors in its expansion over the globe. England's trade and industry grew rapidly and the nation was quickly transformed from a mainly agricultural country to a predominantly manufacturing one, importing raw materials from the colonies, trsforming them in its factories and finally exporting the finished products.
