Reynolds points out in an article he wrote about the book," that the number of people who encountered the story may have been 10 times the number who bought the book since it came out in an era when reading aloud was a common practice among family and friends." So as people read of these stories and of this book the stories and information spread like wildfire through the north.

Many believe the book had a very strong influence on the election of Lincoln for if the amount of support against slavery that came from this book did not exist Lincolns views against slavery may have likely not made it into office but because the book had such a powerful influence on the people of the north there stand against slavery was stronger than ever which led to the election of Abraham Lincoln the man who eventually led the US into civil war against slavery.

2.1. The book had very strong beliefs against slavery for the very purpose of its creation was to inspire others to abolish slavery

2.2. There is a massive part in uncle toms cabin that starts with this. “You ought to be ashamed, John! Poor, homeless, houseless creatures! It’s a shameful, wicked, abominable law, and I’ll break it, for one, the first time I get a chance; and I hope I shall have a chance, I do!" This quote from the book and the rest that comes after it solidifies the authors feelings against slavery and against the fugitive slave act and all other terrible slave laws that had been created at her time.

In the furthering of uncle toms cabin a statement is made "John, I don’t know anything about politics, but I can read my Bible; and there I see that I must feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and comfort the desolate; and that Bible I mean to follow.” this quote shows the authors feelings about slavery going against Christianity and that the treatment of the slaves is not christian and not right.

3. Significance

3.1. “You ought to be ashamed, John! Poor, homeless, houseless creatures! It's a shameful, wicked, abominable law, and I'll break it, for one, the first time I get a chance; and I hope I shall have a chance, I do!” - this quote from uncle toms cabin shows a strong a stand it was taking against slavery at a time when it was very hard to do so. When the sectional tension of slavery was very high.

3.2. it was created very soon after the fugitive slave act which at sparked tensions so high and the south were standing very strong for slavery and they were very hard to oppose.

3.3. It was significant because it brought the north to the realization of what was actually going on in the south and the conditions and treatment of the slaves and it caused the north to stand against slavery stronger than they ever had before.

4.1. the purpose of this document was to bring all those US citizens to the realization of what was truly happening to the slaves and the horrors and terrible conditions the slaves faced that many northerners knew nothing about.

4.2. The author intends to inform people of these things in such an emotional and strong way that they stand up against slavery stronger than ever and that slavery may be abolished.

4.3. The author informs them of these things so they will stand against slavery and bring the nation closer to they way she dreamed it could be without slavery.
