1. Berlin Wall
1.1. Geopolitcal
1.1.1. August 13th, 1961, the German Democratic Republic began constructing the Berlin wall. The was made to cut-off West Berlin, East Berlin, and East Germany. The Soviets backed East Germany at this time and the US did the same but with West Germany.
1.2. Ideological
1.2.1. The government that was behind this wall was the Communist government of the GDR (German Democratic Republic). The Eastern Germany government called the wall the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart, Western Germans referred to it as the Wall of Shame. 20% of East German population left years leading up to the building.
1.3. Economic
1.3.1. West Germany set up a capitalist society. Economy experienced a rapid growth that it became known as the Economic Miracle. The government at this time gave East Germany $1.6 trillion to bring them up to the standards of West Germany.
2. The Korean war
2.1. Geopolitical
2.1.1. The war happened on June 25 1950. The war began because North Korea invaded South Korea. It was located in the Korean Peninsula, Yellow sea, Sea of Japan, Korea strait, and the China-North Korea border.
2.2. Ideological
2.2.1. In 1950 the Korean Peninsula was divided into a Soviet-backed government in the north and a American-backed government in the south. The leader of korea during this war was Syngman Rhee.
2.3. Economic
2.3.1. From June 25 1950 to June 27 1953 the Korean war cost the US $30 billion, or 276 billion dollars in today’ dollars. An impact that the war had on US budgets was military spending increased and became a larger proportion for future budgets.
3. Cuban Missile Crisis
3.1. Ideological
3.1.1. The US failed to overthrow the Castro Regime in Cuba with the Bay of Pigs invasion. While Kennedy was planning Operation Mongoose, in July 1962 the Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev reached a secret agreement with Cuba’s premier Fidel Castro to put Soviet nuclear missiles on Cuba to prevent any future attacks from the US.

3.2.1. This war took place in 1962.The war was between the US and Soviet Union, caused by the placement of nuclear missiles in cuba by the Soviet Union. It was the closest the Cold War came to being a full out nuclear war.

3.3. Economic
3.3.1. On October 28 1962 the Soviet Union agreed to dismantle all weapons in Cuba and take them back and the US agreed they would not invade Cuba. The US secretly agreed to dismantle there weapons in Turkey and Italy but they did not declare that to the public.
