1. Tympanic

1.1. Ascends to the tympanic cavity through a small canal

1.2. Sensory

1.2.1. innervate middle ear including the tympanic membrane

1.3. Parasympathetic

1.3.1. Continue as lesser petrosal nerve and innervates the postgang parasymph neurones of otic ganglion

2. Stylopharyngeal

2.1. To the stylopharyngeus muscle

2.1.1. Elevates the larynx and pharynx

3. Tonsillar

3.1. Supply the palatine tonsils, forming around it a plexus from which a filaments are distributed to the soft palate and fauces, where they communicate with the palatine nerves

4. Lingual branches

4.1. Innervates the taste buds of the post 1/3 of tongue and general sensation to the same area
