SPELLING RULES FOR FORMING PLURAL NOUNS

1. For nouns ending in a consonant + o

1.1. Add "S" with some nouns and "ES" with others.

1.1.1. PHOTO - PHOTOS

1.1.2. TOMATO - TOMATOES

2. For nouns ending in a consonant + y

2.1. Drop the "Y" and add "IES".

2.1.1. BABY - BABIES

3. For nouns ending in a a vowel + y

3.1. Add only "S".

3.1.1. BOY - BOYS

4. For nouns ending in a vowel + o

4.1. Add "S".

4.1.1. VIDEO - VIDEOS

5. For nouns ending in "CH", "SH","SS",or,"X"

5.1. Add "ES".

5.1.1. BOX - BOXES

5.1.2. BENCH - BENCHES

6. For nouns ending in "F" or "FE"

6.1. Change the "F" or "FE to "V" and add "ES".

6.1.1. WOLF - WOLVES

6.1.2. WIFE - WIVES

7. Most plural nouns are formed by adding only "S".

8. There are some words that are equal in plural and singular.
