2.1.1. Rome Was only a monarchy for about 100 years when it changed to a republic.
2.2. Patricians and Plebeians
2.2.1. The patricians held most of the power and the land while the plebeians made up most of the population of slaves and common people.
2.3. Twelve tables
2.3.1. Ten officials created a group of laws in 451 B.C. written on twelve tablets.
2.4. Government under the Republic
2.4.1. They had two leaders called consuls and a senate of 300 members and in times of crisis they would appoint a dictator to command the army.
2.5. The Roman Army
2.5.1. All citizens with land were required to be in the army. Roman legion was made of 5000 members.

3.1. Rome Conquers Italy
3.1.1. Rome was masters of all Italy and Far beyond for 250 years after 265 B.C.
3.2. Romes commercial Network
3.2.1. Rome had easy access to all of the trade, cities , and travel along the Mediterranean sea.
3.3. War with Carthage
3.3.1. War between Carthage and Rome was called the Punic Wars. Rome destroyed Carthage after Hannibal lost to the roman Scipio.
