Types of phrases

1. Noun Phrase
1.1. Noun+ modifiers, the modifiers can be after or before.
2. Prepositional Phrase.
2.1. Preposition + object of the preposition.
3. Adjective Phrase.
3.1. Modifiers a noun or pronoun.
4. Adverb Phrase.
4.1. It can modify a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
5. Verb Phrase.
5.1. It is a combination of main verb and its auxiliaries (helping verbs) in a sentence.
6. Infinitive Phrase.
6.1. It consists of an infinitive (to+ simple form of the verb) and its modifiers. It always function as an adjective, adverb or a noun.
7. Gerund Phrase.
7.1. Consists of a gerund (verb+ing) and modifiers or other words associated with the gerund. It acts as a noun in a sentence.
8. Participle Phrase.
8.1. It consists of a present participle.
9. Appositive Phrase.
9.1. An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. The appositive can be a short or long combination of words.
