ROLES OF A TEACHER AND MOTIVATION OF LEARNERS.

1. INTRODUCTION.

1.1. A teacher can have different roles within a lesson, they have to adapt to the situation in order to make the learning as effective as possible.

2. ROLES OF A TEACHER.

2.1. Organiser: It's important to organise your classroom to ensure the best use of the time avalible in a lesson.

2.2. Prompeter: Learners are reluctant to participate, a teacher can often get learners to be more active.

2.3. Listener: Listening to the learners helps you know how they are doing what they are good at, encourage them to make notes while they listen to the learners to help them remember and give feedback.

2.4. Provider of input: Selecting the appropriate material, they can provide the learners with valuable input.

2.5. Controller: It helps make the lesson effective selecting the correct material.

2.6. Expert resouserce: Knowing the subjects is important as it helps make the lesson effective.

2.7. Language guide: Helps learners work out grammar rules for themselves.

2.8. Assessor: Checks the learner's work.

2.9. Reflector: Thinks about how the lesson has gone.

3. WHY ARE WE TEACHING?

3.1. What is the purpose of teaching? To transmit the knowledge, that feeling of helping.

3.2. Who are you teaching? To the following professionals.

3.3. Who does most of the work? Students because they have to pay all of his attention.

3.4. How do people learn? They will learn playing and doing things that they like while they are learning.

4. THE TEACHER AND THE LEARNER.

4.1. You can use with you are doing a workshop. You could also try to do the activity yourself. Put teachers in groups and ask them to discuss and complete the following diagram. Afterwards, tell the groups to display their diagrams, walk around and look at the other ones and then ask each other questions. Next, put them back in their groups and ask them to think of how they can make the learners more involved. Are there things that the teacher (currently) does that could be done by both the teacher and the learners or even just by the learners?

5. COMMENTARY.

5.1. Teachers fear losing control so will often do things to feel they are in control of what is happening in the classroom.

6. MOTIVATION.

6.1. The next role of the teacher is motivate learners, what we want to raise awareness of some different aspects connected to the topic.

6.2. In the other hand, if people are not motivated they won't do well, it mean they won't learn.

6.3. To motivate learners is to use a variety of activities and make their lessons vivid and lively, as teacher we need to know there are some types of motivations.

7. TYPES OF MOTIVATIONS.

7.1. Intrinsic: Comes from inside the learner it means by their owm reasons. example: It's fun

7.2. Extrinsec: Comes from outside them, they do it to please someone else. example: My mother says it's important.

7.3. Integrative: Comes from the desire to be part of a group and not to be left out. example: My friend is doing it.
