Force and Pressure by Mind Map: Force and Pressure

1. Force

1.1. A force is either a push or a pull

1.2. When we push or pull something, we are said to exert a force.

1.3. Actions such as stretching, squeezing, twisting, bending and lifting involves pushes and pulls.

1.4. It is the ability to do work

1.5. It is the capacity to do work or cause physical change

2. Pressure

2.1. Pressure is the amount of force applied to an area

2.2. Pressure depends on the force and area

2.3. The pressure increases when the force increases

2.4. The SI Unit for pressure is Pa (pascal)

3. How can we increase pressure?

3.1. We can increase the pressure by reducing the area of the object. For example if we have a sharp and blunt scissors, we will be able to cut objects easier with the sharp scissors as the area of the sharp scissors blade is smaller, the pressure put will be higher.

4. effects of force

4.1. Size

4.2. Stationary state

4.3. Speed

4.4. Direction of the object

4.5. Shape
