Evaluation Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the main task? by Mind Map: Evaluation Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the main task?

1. Actors

1.1. Actors in my Prelim were unprepared, nervous and not very good at acting, however, in my Final product, the actors are much better, mainly because there is no dialogue, but they also act much better and make the sequence realistic.

2. Skills

2.1. During the Prelim tasks I learned some skills of how to use the software and how to use the camera equipment though not much.

2.2. I improved and developed a lot of new skills during the production of my media product. I am now very skilled at using the GarageBand and Final Cut Express software and can handle the camera equipment efficiently enough to be able to shoot good shots of the film narrative.

3. Conclusion

3.1. Overall, despite my lack of effort during the prelim task, I have worked to improve in every aspect of the final production and have managed to make an overall product that is similar and on par with the products of professionals and have come out with many new skills.

4. Construction

4.1. Moving Image

4.1.1. In the prelim I only roughly cut together the shots without much care so they looked poorly done.

4.1.2. In my final product I careful edited the shots together, placing transitions where need and lengthened, shortened and changed the speed of necessary shots. I also used the colour corrector to darken the lighting of the shots to add to the horror atmosphere and to make the product look more professional. Unlike in my prelim I used everything that was available to me.

4.2. Mise-en-scene

4.2.1. In the prelim there was no intentional mise-en-scene of lighting, costume or location which meant that the finished product looked amateurish not professional.

4.2.2. I learned from my mistakes in the Prelim tasks and took care when assembling the costume of the characters and the lighting that was used and the location because they were all important when it came to establishing the genre of the final product.

4.3. Sound

4.3.1. I didn't use any sound in the prelim except what the camera had picked up.

4.3.2. I used sounds from GarageBand and FreeSFX.com while constructing my

5. Storyboard

5.1. There was no storyboard for the prelim task as did not think there was a need, however I learnt that it was needed even if the product was only a small piece.

5.1.1. Goal 1

5.1.2. Goal 2

5.2. During the planning stages of the final product, I spent time creating my storyboard so that I new exactly what I was shooting and how the actor should act, what the editing would be like and that I had an idea as to how I wanted the sound placed in the product.

6. Research and planning

6.1. I didn't do any research or planning during the moving image prelim and so the piece came out poorly due to bad research and planning

6.2. During the research and planning stage of my final product, I did everything I could to improve my ideas and the developing product, meaning I was better prepared for what I was doing.
