1. Important facts about India
1.1. Lies entirely in the northern hemisphere of the earth
1.2. The tropic of Cancer divides the country approximately into two equal parts.
1.3. The southern half coinciding with Peninsular India lies in the tropical zone , the northern half , somewhat continental in nature, belongs to the subtropical zone.
1.4. India occupies the South - central peninsula of the Asian continent.

2.2. It extends between 8°4' and 37°6' north latitude and 68°7' and 97°25' east longitude, lying north of the equator.
