1.1. Divide the numerator by the denominator
1.2. The whole number is exactly that! The decimal is the fraction.
1.3. Convert the decimal to a fraction, then reduce to lowest terms.
2. Steps for Converting an improper fraction to a mixed number:
2.1. Multiply the denominator by the whole number.
2.2. Add the product to the numerator.
2.3. This sum is the numerator of the fraction. The denominator stays the same.
