2. CiTyBee

2.1. Intro - 45 sec

2.1.1. Anslag

2.1.1.1. CiTyBee is a Community tool box. We want to make it more inclusive and playful for people to create the city together

2.1.1.1.1. Illu: map with signs

2.1.2. Problem

2.1.2.1. Barriers/Fragmentation

2.1.2.1.1. In CiTyBee we beliewe that the city has a lot of possibilities, driven by the ideas and networks of people in a community

2.1.2.1.2. Often barriers block local interaction that turn these possibilities into action. The barriers can be spatial such as big roads and functional or social ghettos

2.1.2.1.3. The barriers can also be cultural when people feel excluded by abstract urban plans or too much talk and too little action.

2.1.3. Solution

2.1.3.1. CiTyBee

2.1.3.1.1. CiTyBee makes the discussion about the city more concrete and close to everyday life

2.1.3.1.2. And makes the design of the city more open for discussion and self organisation.

2.2. Case: Hedehusene

2.2.1. Overview - 12 sec

2.2.1.1. The process very short

2.2.1.1.1. So how do we do that? the process has three phases. First Phase is an open collecting of local stories. Second phase is constructive discussions and third phase focus on local actions

2.2.2. Stories 44 sec

2.2.2.1. First we collect stories in and about the city - where people live and work.

2.2.2.1.1. Street situation

2.2.2.1.2. Market situation

2.2.3. Discussions

2.2.3.1. Then we build up a constructive atmosphere for discussions and start making the stories into ideas and networks

2.2.3.1.1. First public meeting

2.2.3.1.2. Walks

2.2.3.1.3. Second public meeting

2.2.4. Offshoots

2.2.4.1. Station from the outside

2.2.4.1.1. In the third phase we facilitate concrete actions based on the new localised ideas and networks

2.2.4.2. Building in the station

2.2.4.2.1. In this case the idea was to make an incubator for local projects in the empty train station

2.2.4.2.2. One of our actions was to design and build a module for the old train station that had a number funcions

2.2.4.3. A stage

2.2.4.3.1. Illustration: stage

2.2.4.4. A table

2.2.4.4.1. Illustration: Table

2.2.4.5. A bench

2.2.4.5.1. Illustration - People seated in a meeting

2.2.4.6. The flexibility of this design makes it less finished and more open for new ideas and discussions

2.2.4.7. In the third phase we also work with the langauge that is used to talk about the local community

2.2.4.8. In this case we discovered the word offshoots which was used to describe a number of actions in the community like:

2.2.4.9. Et hjemmebygget hus

2.2.4.9.1. The many additions to the self build houses

2.2.4.10. Allan på sit værksted

2.2.4.10.1. or how you move into an existing old factory buillding

2.2.4.11. A new curated walk was organised to discuss the offshoots in the community and formalising the use of that word

2.2.4.12. We also choose to use the word offshoots to describe the third phase in the CiTyBee process:

2.2.5. Outro

2.2.5.1. Concrete spatial actions: either building and taking space in a visual and functional way but also changing the way we talk about space

2.2.5.1.1. Taking space

2.2.5.1.2. Talking about space

2.2.5.2. Offshoots are ongoing changes to what is already there. Always leaving little seeds of imperfection that makes it open to new stories, discussions and offshoots

2.2.5.2.1. Illu: Stories, Discussions, Offshoots

2.2.5.3. Which means that the process can begin again - making it less linear

2.2.5.3.1. Illustration: The linear proces becomes a triangle

2.3. Payoff

2.3.1. Summing up

2.3.1.1. CiTyBee

2.3.1.1.1. So Citybee is about making the discussion about space more spatial and designing space to be more open for discussion

2.3.1.1.2. CiTyBee is a community tool box for people to create the city together

2.4. Extra TBD

2.4.1. The inspiration behind city bee came in a talk about real bees in the city

2.4.2. Biodiversity

2.4.2.1. If we see similar dynamics in nature it is often regulated by law that barriers that brake the natural habitats of wildlife

2.4.2.2. The barriers prevents the free movement and dampens the biodiversity of animals.

2.4.3. The CiTyBee moves around the city and discovers, extracts and shares the local possibilities. Most importantly it also cross-pollinate the local ideas, dreams and interests, creating new networks and offshoots.

2.4.4. And social barriers that result in ghettos where people end up because they have no other choice

2.4.4.1. Illustration: Fløng and CK ghettos and Less sprouts

2.4.5. Many places its forbidden to create barriers that hinders the free movements of wildlife

2.4.5.1. CITyBee stand for Communmity Tool Box where the tools are to strenghtening the local community by unleashing the overlooked potentials there

2.4.6. Inspiration

2.4.6.1. In Supertanker we have worked with ways of unleashing the potential of cities in the last 10 years.

2.4.6.2. Not only do bees thrive in the city of today

2.4.6.3. They also speeded up evolution
