the author uses irony to show characterization

1. 5...its ironic because the police officers have no idea that they are actually helping out the murder suspect whom they are trying to catch

2. 4...Theyre actually eating the weapon, so the police officers are doing her a favor

3. 6..."She wants us to finish it. She said so. Be doing her a favor.' (386)

3.1. they are just not good at their job and their unaware on how to do their job correctly

4. 8...torwards the end, "probablly right under our own noses what do you think jack?'' it is saying how nieve the police are with what they do and are not very smart

4.1. it is ironic because the murder weapon is really under ther nose because they are eating it.

5. 9...the very last sentence says she went into the other room and began to giggle, showing her charicter is evil and devieving

5.1. the lady knows that wshe is going to get away with her crime.

6. 7...sithin the end of pg 385 and the begining of 386 it is a conversation of the woman trying to convince the officers to eat the lamb a take a break where it shows how she is nice and sweet on the outside but also fallows back to how she is deceiving and EVIL!

7. summary for chaicterization with irony...the character of the woman is devieving because of all the events to follow how she is nice one minute, lies about not being sure about what happened, crying to try to feel sorry for herself, and how she is nice about having the officers eat the food by trying to be nice when really she is just trying to save herself by having other people eat the weapon

7.1. its IRONIC how she is doing all these things but is really the one to cause the terrible event...which is where her being deciving ties in!

8. 1...how she states that she loves the mans presence is ironic because she never said she loved him because the it would be easier forhow she states that she loves the mans presence is ironic because she never said she loved him because then it would be easier for her to kill him without feeling guilt because it never actually stated that she loved him... only his presence

9. 1...The woman is talking to the grocer about how much her husand will enjoy the cheesecake when he is really dead. This shows that she is very smart and evil to fool people into thinking she didnt kill him

10. 3..."thats the hell of a big club the guy mustve used to hit poor patrick"(386)

10.1. this is ironic because in essence the big guy is actually the innocent little wife who is actually the murderer
