Validity and Reliability by Mind Map: Validity and Reliability

1. Reliability

1.1. Test-Retest /Stability

1.1.1. The test is given twice and compared for reliability

1.2. Internal Consistancy

1.2.1. Items need to be correlated and internally consistant.

1.2.2. Kuder Richardson

1.2.2.1. "Measures extent to which items within one form of the test have as much in common with on another as do the items that one form with corresponding items in an equibelant form" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p.344).

1.2.3. Split-Half/Odd-Even

1.2.3.1. "Each item is assigned to one half or the other. The total score for each student on each half is determined and correlated" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p.343).

1.3. Alternate forms/Equivalence

1.3.1. If they have two forms of one test they can be used to estimate the reliability scores.

2. Validity

2.1. Content Validity

2.1.1. "The idea of inspecting test questions to see whether they correspond to what the user decides should be covered by the test" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p.330).

2.2. Construct Validity

2.2.1. "When the relationship to other information corresponds well with some theory" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p.332).

2.3. Criterion-Related Validity

2.3.1. "Scores from a test are correlated with an external criterion" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p.330).

2.3.2. Concurrent Validity

2.3.2.1. administering measures at the same time as validating the measurements.

2.3.3. Predictive Validity

2.3.3.1. Predicting future behavior of the examinees.
