Jennifer Mazer's Biographical Mindmap by Mind Map: Jennifer Mazer's Biographical Mindmap

1. Cool Stuff Games Employee

1.1. March 2012: Cool Stuff Games hired Jennifer as a general employee. This is still, currently, her place of employment. She loves her job and her coworkers (and she's not just writing that on the off-chance that they somehow find this mind-map).

1.2. Jennifer spends her days at work sorting, buying, and selling Magic:the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon cards. She knows the difference between sets, she can tell if a card is counterfeit, and she is sad that she can't really utilize these talents in other work environments. However, she is great with customers, and customer service is an interchangeable talent (and useful in the teaching profession!).

1.3. March 2013: CSG is sending Jennifer, and four other employees, to represent the company at Megacon! She is very proud that they chose her out of all the other employees in the company (of which, there are nearly 100), and she can't wait to go. She has never been to any sort of convention before, so the anticipation is nearly killing her... though she hopes she'll get a chance to leave the CSG booth and look around a bit.

2. Personal Interests

2.1. Jennifer has a morbid fascination with teen romance novels. It is her lifelong dream to write one, specifically paranormal romance, and she has devoured nearly every book in the Barnes and Nobel teen lit section. However, she's been interested in paranormal romance since she was 12 years old, so the Twilight phenomenon has not phased her (or had anything to do with her interest.. in fact, Legend of Zelda fanfiction was what got her into writing in the first place). When she gets around to writing it, her novel will have a strong emphasis on German myths and German classical literature, and nothing to do with vampires or zombies.

2.2. Jennifer has the tendency to nerd out sometimes, and lately, the object of her nerdfection has been Joss Whedon. She is currently reading all of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics (including the Spike, Willow, and Angel and Faith spin-offs), highly anticipating the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, and cannot wait for Avengers 2 or the sequel to Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog to come to theaters. She has long-since mourned the cancellation of Firefly and is open to debating the merits of Dollhouse. Though all the Joss-love in the world couldn't make Jennifer prefer Marvel to DC... especially when Gail Simone is doing such an amazing job writing Batgirl.

2.3. Jennifer is on a life-long quest to find the perfect bagel. Having grown up on delicious bagels in Miami, Jennifer has come to realize that Orlando lacks wonderful bagelry establishments. She has gone to every bagel place UrbanSpoon has thrown her way, but not a single Central Florida restaurant has sufficient bagels. Even when she tried to bake her own bagels, to make up for Orlando's bagel deficit, they were subpar. Though, she has yet to give up hope! Attached is a link revealing bagel history, and the article helps explain why it is sometimes impossible to find an adequate bagel. Some "bagels" (like Panera's or Einstein's) are just rolls with holes in their centers.

3. Education

3.1. 5/3/2012: Jennifer graduated from University of Central Florida with a degree in Creative Writing, minoring in German. She graduated on time, which she found impressive; before deciding to officially study English, she'd changed her major four times.

3.1.1. July 2011: Studied abroad in Vienna, Austria and completed half of her German minor while studying at Die Universitaet Wien, living in student dorms in downtown Vienna. She ate lots of schnitzel, drank lots of beer, spoke lots of German.

3.2. 11/4/12: Jennifer re-enrolled into the University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in English Language Arts Education. Job searching post-graduation did not yield as many (or the sorts of) job results she liked, and becoming a wacky high school English teacher appealed to her... especially if she could find a way to teach classic graphic novels like Alan Moore's Watchmen or Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

3.3. TBA: Jennifer yearns to pursue a master's degree in ESOL Education... if she doesn't enroll into the Aveda Beauty School instead. Or travel to Europe and take classes at one of the Goethe German Language Institutes while waitressing at a small, trendy cafe. Or she might leave education behind and join Americorps, paving roads, living in a tent, and not abiding by societal expectations... like a modern-day cowgirl.
