How does your media product represent particular social groups? by Mind Map: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

1. By having an exclusively male cast we show how males dominated the work force at that time.

2. We chose to dress the characters in the movie very similar to each other. In order to find out how middle class working men dressed we conducted research into it. We found that typical dress for that particular demographic was a collared shirt, similar color trousers and in some cases extras such as flat caps and jumpers.

3. We purposely dressed our characters in dark muted clothes as it enhances the overall effect of the movie which is dark and mysterious.

4. The movie demonstrates the strength of community in the village as all of the characters are known to each other.

5. We focused our movie around the church as this was the centre of community life in the 1940's.

6. We chose the bicycle as it was the major form of transport to the working class as only the affluent could afford motor cars.

7. We used music sung by Dame Vera Lynn because of her popularity with everybody in the 1940's. She became know as the Forces Sweetheart.

8. We chose the countryside for the setting as it demonstrates that the only job opportunities were farming the land.
