3. Predicting

3.1. Definition

3.1.1. The ability to predict or estimate what will come by utilizing clues that are grammatical, logic, and culturally.

3.2. Steps

3.2.1. 1. Use clues the author provides in the text.

3.2.2. 2. Use what he/she knows from personal experience or knowledge (schema).

3.2.3. 3. Use what they know about an author to predict what a text will be about.

3.2.4. 4. As they look for evidence for their predictions, they also ask themselves questions, reread the text, recall information given in the text, infer, and draw conclusions.

3.3. Purpose

3.3.1. Guess the contents of a text by recognizing the markers in the text.

4. Paraphrasing

4.1. Definition

4.1.1. Restatement of a literary work in the form of another literary work without changing or even eliminating the meaning and essence of the original work.

4.2. Purpose

4.2.1. To re-expres various gossip that we read or hear in different ways and forms.

4.2.2. To explain a text in another form or word order.

4.3. Steps

4.3.1. Read the information carefully

4.3.2. Note down into sentence

4.3.3. Develop the main sentence into the main idea

4.3.4. Convey the main idea in the form of an oral description in your own words

4.3.5. Use synonyms or equivalent expressions

4.3.6. Use dirrect sentence into indirect sentence

5. Guess from context

5.1. Definition

5.1.1. Guessing from context refers to the process of drawing conclusions, regarding the meaning of an unfamiliar word based on the words around it and the topic of the paragraph.

5.2. Technique

5.2.1. 1. Predicting of general idea of the text from the title or the healing.

5.2.2. Synonym are two or more words that have same meaning or similar.

5.2.3. Antonyms or contrast, Conjunctions such as 'although', and 'but' are examples or contrast.

5.2.4. General sense of passage

6. Previewing

6.1. Definition

6.1.1. Strategy that readers use to recall prior knowledge and set a purpose for reading.

6.2. Steps

6.2.1. 1. Spend no more than one minute previewing

6.2.2. 2. Read the title, know anything about the subject

6.2.3. 3. Decide what kind of the text it is.

6.2.4. 4. Notice if there are maps, pictures, charts, names, dates, or number in the passage.

6.2.5. 5. Look at the first line or sentence of each paragraph and the last sentence of the final paragraph.
