Cellular Respiration

Anaerobic Respiration

Anaerobic means without oxygen thus distinguishing it from aerobic.

Glucose

Alcoholic Fermentation

C6H1206 --> 2 C02 + 2 C2H60 OCCURS IN BACTERIA AND YEAST

Lactic Acid Fermentation

C6H1206 --> 2 C3H603

Aerobic Respiration

Aerobic means with oxygen which distinguishes it from anaerobic. Aerobic respiration involves three metabolic processes: the citric acid cycle (a.k.a. Kreb's Cycle), the formation of acetyl CoA, and glycolysis.

Glucose + Oxygen

Citric Acid Cycle

2 Acetyl Co-A + 3 NAD+ + FAD + ADP + HPO4 + 2 H2O--> 2 CO2 + ATP + H+ + CoA + 3 NADH + FADH2

Intermediate Step

2 (C3H4O3 + CoA + NAD+ --> Acetyl CoA + CO2 + NADH)

Glycolysis

C6H12O6 + 2 NAD+ + 2 ADP + 2 HPO4 --> 2 C3H4O3 + 2 ATP + 2 NADH + 2 H+ + 2 H2O

Glucose + 6 Oxygen-->6 Carbon Dioxide + 6 Water + 36-38 Adenosine Triphosphate

C6H12O6 + 6 O2 --> 6 C02 + 6 H20 + 36-38 ATP This is the formula for the process of cell respiration.
