1.2. Varo's overconfidence overtook him and he lead his men into a trap blindly.

2.1. Arminius trained and fought with the Roman Army.

2.1.1. Arminius was good friends with Varus thus he had a good knowledge of his enemy

2.1.1.1. By using the surroundings of the Forest, Arminius was able to retreat back into it and hide for cover.

2.2. Varus was no battle commander

2.2.1. Varus trusted Arminius with high esteem. Big mistake.
