1.2.1. Answer:John Proctor is telling the truth, and Abigail Williams and the girls are lying. Thomas Putnam is lying when they asked if he asked his daughter to cry witchery. John is telling the truth when he admitted to adultery with Abigail. Abigail and the girls pretend to see spirits to avoid telling the truth.

1.3. 7. A crucible is a ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. a. In act 3, who is creating the high temperature and who is being melted away? The high temperature is being created by judge, and the person who is being melted away is Abigail Williams. b. What happens when a person(s) is being pressured or subjected to high temperatures? The people in the text try to avoid the question as much as possible and then most likely, they lie to get out of trouble. c. Are there any characters in act 3 that have not melted? I think that Giles Corey has not melted under pressure because of the fact that he didn't give up any names to protect himself.
